Pre-Flight Purging & Metabolic Fasting
48 to 72 hours prior to export packing, specimens are moved to specialized conditioning raceways and glass jar banks. Fish undergo strict feed purging to eliminate metabolic waste and ammonia buildup inside flight bags during long-distance air transit.
Water Parameter Balancing & Anti-Stress Conditioning
Packing water is micro-filtered, temperature-stabilized, and treated with synthetic slime-coat conditioners, ammonia binders, and electrolyte balancers to prevent osmoregulatory shock during environmental shifts across international time zones.
3-Ply Medical Oxygen Bagging & Pressure Sealing
Fish are counted and bagged according to species-specific box density tables. Heavy-duty double/triple polythene bags are filled with a 1:3 water-to-100%-medical-oxygen ratio and double-clipped with heavy aluminum rings against cabin pressure shifts.
Thermal Insulation & Micro-Climate Cartons
Sealed bags are packed inside 30mm thick high-density Styrofoam insulating boxes enclosed in 5-ply corrugated export cartons. Seasonal climate heat packs or gel ice packs are inserted depending on northern/southern hemisphere arrival temperatures (24–26°C target).
DAPH Vet Clearance & CMB Airport Dispatch
Official government veterinary inspectors from Sri Lanka’s Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH) inspect consignments at Colombo (CMB) Airport and issue official International Veterinary Health Certificates attached to the Airway Bill (AWB) pouch.
